Products Description
Phenolic resin bonded depth filter cartridges are manufactured by impregnating a fibrous media (acrylic, polyester or blended fibers) with phenolic resin and curing it into a solid, porous block. The result is a robust, self-supporting cartridge that resists compression, retains captured solids under changing pressure, and exploits full media depth for maximum dirt-holding.
Technical parameters
Media | Fibrous substrate (acrylic / polyester / blend) fully impregnated with phenolic resin |
Construction | Coreless, cured resin-bonded depth matrix - grooved or smooth exterior available |
Nominal micron ratings (examples) | 1, 2, 3, 5, 10, 25, 50, 75, 100 µm |
Outside diameter | 65 mm |
Inside diameter | 28 mm |
Common lengths | 247.65 - 1016 mm(other lengths available) |
Sealing options | Buna-N (NBR), EPDM, Silicone, Viton (FKM), PTFE-encapsulated Viton (o-rings only) |
Liquid temperature capability | Up to ~250°F (121°C) for short-length designs; check part-specific limits for longer lengths. |
Max differential pressure | Product-specific; typical variants rated up to ~70–90 psid (≈4.8–6.2 bar). |
Recommended changeout ΔP | Commonly in the 30–40 psid (≈2.0–2.8 bar) range - adjust per process requirements. |

Applications
Phenolic resin bonded depth filter cartridges are suited to industrial processes where throughput and solids loading are significant:
- Paints, coatings, varnishes and printing inks
- Adhesives, sealants, resins and emulsions
- Solvent-based process streams and chemical intermediates
- Lubricating oils, hydraulic fluids and gear oils
- Metalworking fluids and machine coolants
- Petrochemical intermediates and refinery process streams
- General industrial process waters with high suspended solids
Installation, operation & maintenance
1. Installation Checklist
- Verify correct length, OD/ID and end-cap type for your housing.
- Inspect O-rings and sealing surfaces; replace if damaged.
- Note flow direction if element is asymmetric (depth gradients are directional).
- Start system slowly to avoid pressure shocks.
2. Operational Tips
- Monitor differential pressure across the filter; record initial clean ΔP and track rise.
- Replace cartridges when ΔP approaches the recommended changeout point or when effluent quality degrades.
- For viscous fluids, allow gradual ramp-up of flow to prevent trapped air and surging.
3. Cleaning & Reuse
- Phenolic resin bonded depth filter cartridges are depth, non-washable elements. Attempting to backflush or wash often does not restore original efficiency and can release trapped particles. Replace elements when spent.
