An oil filter element is the core filtering component within an oil filter system, usually a pleated material made of synthetic fibers, fiberglass, or cellulose that traps contaminants from circulating oil to protect engine components and maintain performance. Hydraulic Filter Element
The primary function of a hydraulic filter element is to remove unwanted particulate contaminants from the hydraulic fluid to maintain oil cleanliness. These contaminants can include dust particles, metal shavings, and other debris that can damage hydraulic systems over time.
Spin-On Filter Element
Spin-on filter elements are usually placed between the tank and the pump. Designed to remove solid contaminants and water from hydraulic lubricants to protect the pump or entire hydraulic circuit from particulate contaminants.
Suction Filter
The suction filter is a inline hydraulic suction filter that is responsible for removing unwanted debris and contaminants from the oil before it enters the hydraulic system. This keeps the system clean and prevents damage to pumps, valves, and other components.
Coalescer Separator Cartridge
The function of the coalescer separator cartridge is to remove solid and liquid contaminants from the oil. It is mainly designed for liquid-liquid separation and consists of two types of filter elements, coalescing filter element and separator filter element. It is often used in oil-water separation systems, such as coalescer type oil purifier.

Structure of Oil Filter
Screw-on oil filters
These filters feature a metal housing and a rubber gasket that provides an oil tight seal between the filter, and the engine. Oil is pumped from the sump and enters the filter.It is then passed over filtration media via a series of small holes around the perimeter of the filter. The media is commonly pleated paper, occasionally a pleated synthetic material.
Canister oil filters
These were once prevalent but were replaced with screw-on filters as they were considered to be less messy, and easier to change.The canister filter housing is generally made of plastic, and offers the same anti-drain, and bypass functions as a screw-on filter. The filter is usually accessed by a threaded cap on the housing, which is removed using a large socket.
