The 5 micron string wound sediment filter is manufactured by wrapping a continuous fine rope (usually polypropylene PP fiber) around a porous center tube (usually PP or stainless steel) at a specific density and angle. Its core functions are:

  • Precision filtration: effectively intercept suspended particles (such as sediment, rust, colloids, algae) in water ≥5 microns.
  • Deep purification: Gradient filtration is realized through multi-layer wire-wound structure, and the dirt-holding capacity is far more than ordinary PP cotton.
  • Equipment protection: prevent downstream precision equipment (such as RO membrane, UV sterilizer) from being clogged and damaged by particles.

How it Works:

 

String wound sediment filters follow the principle of depth filtration:

  1. Water flows in under pressure from the outside.
  2. Passes through the wound string matrix.
  3. Particles trapped on fibers or between gaps.
  4. Trapped particles build up, aiding filtration.
  5. Clean water flows out via the central core.
