Dual Media Filter

A dual-media filter is a continuously operating water treatment device. It adopts a unique structure and dual media design, which can better remove suspended solids in water and reduce the turbidity of water. The filtration process is carried out simultaneously with the backwash process, which can be continuously and automatically operated 24 hours a day without downtime for maintenance. This type of filter generally uses anthracite and quartz sand as filter media. If there are specific requirements, different filter media can be selected for combination, which can be very good for removing specific contaminants in the water.

The arrangement of the filter material of the dual-media filter is as follows: the filter material with small density and large particles is on the top, and the filter material with large density and small particles is below.

This hierarchical structure of the filter bed makes the distribution of the filter material from coarse to fine, and the ability to retain impurities gradually increases, so as to achieve the best match between the dirt interception capacity of the whole layer of filter material and the difficulty of removing residual impurities. Using this structure, the performance is superior, the sewage interception capacity is large, the filtration cycle is long, and the effluent quality is good.

In addition, it should be noted that in practical applications, the number of layers of the filter material is not as much as possible, and too many layers will not only increase the equipment investment, but also increase the difficulty of backwashing, so a reasonable combination of economy and technology is required.
